Production and Direction:

Direction and production of live theatre was my area of primary study in college. In television I supported the production of pre-recorded programs and promotional packages and wrappers. In the casino world, I directed commercial production work in the hands of vendor partners. I continue to have an interest in production of streaming content and experiment with that as well.

Commercial Package and Spot Production

The Denver's Movie Destination package was designed to brand and bracket our local station's syndicated lineup of movies with a hectic tour of the sites and bustle of Denver, encouraging viewers to make their home their movie destination.

We scouted and captured shots of the Denver area for appropriate footage which I then integrated into After Effects and timed with an edited audio track from Network music package.

This versatile package was sadly short-lived as UPN, and thus all their affiliates, changed their logo slightly more than a year after I left the station.

Spot Reel

For this Spot Reel I can claim credits for all spots except for the music, which is credited here, and was used under UPN20's BMI/Ascap license. I was fortunate to be at the forefront of a new movement of independent producers at the station, when offline editing was first purchased and installed, and teams that produced individual spots were supplanted by individual producers with multiple skills.

My technology skills helped with the planning and installation of UPN20's first offline video edit system. This work would eventually lead to my title transition from Art Director to Promotions Producer. I would eventually purchase and install an Avid system for use in internal casino advertising at Golden Casino Group.

Long-Form Special-Interest Production and Editing

Side projects on YouTube and Twitch have allowed me to explore specialized subject matter to my interests while experimenting with long-form editing and production in a documentary-style format.

This labor-intensive effort--I handled all aspect of research, writing, graphics, editing, and hosting--was not profitable via its only avenue of launching the next YouTube sensation. It was, however, valuable in its education about the challenges inherent in long-form work.

Inspired by a new-at-the-time Kickstarter for a follow-up to the Nintendo Gamecube horror game Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, this video is a survey of Lovecraft, Lovecraftian horror in modern media (as of 2013), and Lovecraftian games.

Direction of Live Theater

This is a student production of Bobby Gould in Hell by David Mamet that I directed as project for a junior-level One-Act Play course, to complete my Bachelor of Arts in Direction of Theatre (dual emphasis major with Acting). It was performed in April(?) of 1993 at the University of Northern Colorado, in the Little Theatre of the Rockies, Frasier Hall, basement area.

Working with my Stage Mananger Jason Humphrey, we handled all aspects of this production from concept through rehearsal, to lighting and sound design, to promotion and house management of the final live run. Studies of mine at this time included hands-on work with costumes, props, set construction and painting, and preparation and operation of lighting and sound rigs, as well as study in theatre history, dramatic theory, set design, and direct experience in Box Office management. I also immersed myself in stage movement, combat, and voice training, garnering experience in performing live that I later applied to any form of public speaking.
